Washfast dyes are used for protein fibers. They work on silk, wool, mohair, alpaca, or any other animal fiber.
Washfast is a hot water dye, so you simmer the dye bath on the stove. For a medium shade, you can expect one ounce to dye up to 6 pounds of fiber, yarn, or fabric. Darker shades require more dye.
For immersion dyeing, you will need a stainless steel or enamel pot, non-iodized salt, Synthropol, and any one of the following: acetic acid, citric acid crystals, ammonium sulfate, or white vinegar. We have instructions for using the Washfast. If you would like to have them, please request them in the box labeled "Shipping Instructions" during the checkout process.
