Tencel is a type of rayon, so it has great drape, sheen, and moisture absorbency. The colors can be intense or delicate and the smooth surface shows off intricate woven patterns. This yarn is the same weight as 8/2 cotton, so you can substitute it for any project calling for 8/2 cotton. This is one of our favorite yarns for scarves and shawls. It doesn't hold heat like wool or get clammy like synthetics, so it makes terrific spring and summer accessories.
Love the yarn but want to see even more colors? We also carry an 8/2 Tencel in variegated colors and a different line of solid color 8/2 Tencel on cones.
New to Tencel? It can be used for warp but takes a little more careful handling than cotton of a similar size. Tencel is a slippery fiber and too much tension can cause it to pull apart. The solution is to make sure your warp tension is very uniform and not tighter than it needs to be to give you a clean shed. Of the three lines of Tencel that we carry, this Brassard Tencel is the most delicate. For a stronger option, go with the solid or variegated Tencel on cones.
